A longstanding member of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s (MCA’s) UK Customer Maritime Services directorate has been appointed to lead the MCA’s Economic Development and Stakeholder Relations for UK Shipping.

Graham Candy has worked for the MCA since 1994 and has most recently led the UK Shipping Concierge as interim head of department, after an extensive tenure working as Key Account Manager for the UK Flag.

Now as Assistant Director of Economic Development & Stakeholder Relations (UK Shipping), Graham hopes to continue his longstanding commitment to grow key allegiances between contacts across Government, UK shipping and the UK flag, helping to nurture an environment that provides distinct advantage and sector-leading quality for UK maritime.

Graham said: “I’m incredibly proud to be appointed to this position, where I continue my work within UK maritime. The UK has a unique, distinct and world-leading presence across this sector, and should rightly be proud of its exceptional Flag and Maritime Offer and proposition.”

Lars Lippuner, Director of UK Customer Service at the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, said: “It’s great to have Graham on the team, as a highly experienced professional whose role in UK maritime across three decades has been warmly admired.

“In particular, we look to Graham to lead ongoing work within the UK Shipping Concierge and UK Flag, which promotes the benefits of trading with the UK, along with its UK maritime offer and world-leading expertise in areas of shipping, technology and legislation.

“Congratulations to Graham, who takes on this appointment at an exciting and crucial time for our industry.”
