The Capital Link Forum brought together hundreds of shipping professionals from Greece and beyond with the agenda covering a wide range of topics including decarbonisation, geopolitics and finance.
As the British Embassy was a sponsor of the event, the UK Government had a table in the small exhibition area where we could share our brochures covering the UK Maritime Offer.
The Department of Business & Trade had organised a UK trade mission as part of the conference activity and it was fantastic to meet with UK companies working in the shipping sector including:
ANEMOI Technologies (automation/digital), Babcock International Group LGE (defence & civil design & engineering), NorthStandard (marine insurance), Windship Technology Ltd. (auxiliary power).
The forum allowed us to network with industry associations and the team were able to meet with a variety of attendees including ship financiers, law firms, and the Filipino Ambassador to Greece.
Outside of the event, the UK Shipping Concierge had the opportunity to have productive meetings with shipping companies working in or looking to work in the UK. We were also able to establish new relationships with key contacts in the market and we look forward to hearing how we can support them with their UK endeavours in the near future.
During our visit, His Majesty’s Ambassador, Matthew Lodge, hosted a New Year Business reception at the Hellenic Armed Forces Club. The event celebrated the thriving UK-Greece trade relationship which grew over 28% in the last year to its highest ever levels.
Though our visit to Athens was short, it was filled with engagements and networking and we look forward to working with more Greek businesses considering the UK.
